Coffee-free, 2 Months Today!

For those of you that know me personally (or even professionally), you will be shocked to know that I am on the wagon with respect to coffee.  It has been two months today since I had my last coffee (cappuccino) at the Singapore Changi Airport on my way back from India to the US.  Not exactly sure how this has happened.  Nor for how long I will be on the wagon.  Fact that I am able to type a blog post at 10:15pm PT would indicate that I am doing fine without the coffee(s).

This topic came up today thru an IM-like e-mail exchange with Shyam, who was working remotely from this local coffee shop:

Shyam: The coffee is really good. http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-verona-fremont

Moi: haven’t touched coffee since 24Jan .. 2MTD

Shyam: Serious question.  Was it difficult to give it up?  Do you feel different one way or other?

Moi: I did not decide to give up at all.  I just woke up one morning (day after i returned from India) with no appetite or craving for coffee.  hopefully it continues.  I still do 1-2 cups of tea every day.  hopefully that stops too .. magically!!

Disclaimer: Yes, as the note above indicates I continue to take caffeine in the form of  tea.  Compared to how I used to ingest caffeine (in the form of coffee) current intake borders on the infinitesimal.

  1. I’ve been off coffee since June ‘05 Bala! Welcome to the club. I used to be an addict, frequenting the local Baristas or Cafe Coffee Days in Pune. One fine morning, any form of caffeine was evil. Likewise for Coke.
Now the littlest doses of caffeine (sips of coffee/coke) make me sleepless. Go figure!

  2. I have only one question….why? Now I don’t have company for my coffee runs :)

  3. @Sneha: For caffeine inflicted sleeplessness is not the issue. It is like someone killed or “suspended” that taste bud in me. There is the Unix geek in me speaking.

@Vijay: the company is still available. It might just make you feel more guilty than less!
